Objetivo:

Realizar investigación biomédica en un proyecto multidisciplinario e interinstitucional en el marco de un convenio entre el Instituto Nacional de Neurología (INNN) y el Departamento de Bioquímica de la Facultad de Medicina de la UNAM

Líneas de Investigación:

  • Regeneración y plasticidad reactiva en la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
  • Procesamiento postraduccional anormal de proteínas con uso potencial de marcadores moleculares de diagnóstico de la enfermedad de Alzheimer y otras demencias.
  • Uso de flavonoides como neuroprotectores en un modelo contra la toxicidad de la proteína amiloide-ß y sobre la producción de radicales libres.
  • Procesamiento postraduccional anormal de la proteína tau por efecto de los niveles de glucosa, en un modelo de toxicidad del amiloide-ß en rata.
  • Neuroprotección por proteínas de choque térmico en un modelo de toxicidad de amiloide-ß y en la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
  • Papel de los daños vasculares e inflamación en la fisiopatología de la enfermedad de Alzheimer.
  • Participación de los Metales de transición Fe y Cu en el estrés oxidativo en los modelos de Parkinson y Alzheimer en rata.



Objective:

Perform biomedical research in a multidisciplinary and inter-institutional project within the framework of an agreement between the National Institute of Neurology (INNN) and the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Medicine. UNAM

Lines of research:

  • Regeneration and reactive plasticity in Alzheimer's disease.
  • Abnormal posttranslational processing of proteins with potential use of molecular markers for diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, as well as for other dementias.
  • The use of flavonoids as neuroprotectors aggainst toxicity of amyloid-ß protein and free radical production in a rat model.
  • Abnormal posttranslational processsing of tau protein due to glucose levels, in a model of toxicity of amyloid-ß in diabetic rat model.
  • Neuroprotection by heat shock proteins in a model of toxicity of amyloid-ß and Alzheimer's disease.
  • Role of vascular damage and inflammation in the pathophysiology of Alzheimer's disease.
  • Participation of the transition metals Fe and Cu in oxidative stress in rat models of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
